Bondi-related threat against popular shopping centre

Police are investigating a threat made against a popular shopping centre, with officers placed on alert as a precaution.

Queensland Police Service (QPS) issued an internal alert after information received by Crime Stoppers on Wednesday warned of a potential risk linked to Westfield North Lakes, about one hour north of Brisbane, on Friday.

The message reportedly warned people to not visit the shopping centre on that date.

“Stay away from Westfield North Lakes on 19.12.2025, it is only the beginning”.

Police said the message was received by the informant on December 15, the day after the Bondi Beach attack.

Two men armed with high-powered firearms opened fire at Bondi Beach on Sunday evening.

Sixteen people are dead, including a gunman, and dozens more were injured.

The terrorist attack targeted members of the Jewish community who had gathered at the popular tourist location for a Hanukkah event.

Police said no identifying details are known about the person who allegedly sent the message about the shopping centre and the informant declined to provide further information, stating they did “not want to be involved”.

The alert stressed the threat is non-specific, with no confirmed or imminent threat to the public.
