On Nov. 6, 2025 around noon, Auburn University released a series of AU Alerts which prompted University students, faculty and employees to receive multiple alerts at one time.
At 11:59 a.m. an alert for a tornado warning was sent.
At 12:05 p.m. an alert of hazardous materials was issued.
Around 12:18, an all clear was issued.
Soon after, at 12:22 p.m. an active shooter alert was sent.

Students in The Plainsman have noted that their alerts came at different times, in different orders. Some have reported that they haven’t gotten an alert at all, or that they’ve gotten a different number of these alerts.
These alerts were identified as an accident and that there was no true alert on campus.
