Bologna return to action in the Europa League when they welcome Brann to the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium on Thursday. The Italian outfit, who are unbeaten at home this season, will be looking to extend this fine run and secure consecutive victories on the continental scene.
Bologna secured their first Europa League victory at the third time of asking as they held on to see out a 2-1 win over Romanian side FCSB on October 23.
Before that, Vincenzo Italiano’s men kicked off the campaign with a 1-0 defeat against English Premier League side Aston Villa on September 25, one week before playing out a 1-1 draw with Freiburg on home turf.
Bologna head into Thursday’s game fresh off the back of a 3-1 win over Parma in Italian Serie A, where they sit fifth in the table with 18 points from 10 matches.
On the other hand, Brann were left empty-handed for a second consecutive game last Sunday when they fell to a 2-1 loss against Bryne in the Norwegian Eliteserien.
This followed a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Bodo/Glimt on October 29, a result which saw their three-game winning streak across all competitions come to an end.
Brann now turn their focus to the Europa League, where they kicked off their campaign with a 2-1 loss against LOSC Lille in France on September 25, before picking up back-to-back victories over Utrecht and Rangers.
