Bear has not been seen in the village for months, having parted with Paddy on bad terms and sped off in his hire car over the summer

Emmerdale has sparked intrigue with the release of a fresh trailer asking ‘Where Is Bear?’

Regular viewers of the ITV soap will recall that Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) has been absent from the Yorkshire village for some time, last spotted driving off in his rental car during the summer.

The broadcaster’s gripping promo features past scenes where Bear’s son Paddy (Dominic Brunt) heatedly tells his father to head to Ireland, leading to a bitter parting. However, in upcoming episodes, Paddy discovers that his father isn’t safe in Ireland as he’d assumed, but is actually missing.

In a scene with his wife Mandy (Lisa Riley), she tries to comfort him, saying: “People do this all the time,” to which he retorts: “For four months?” and she responds: “Yes…if you’re Bear.”

A worried Paddy is then heard asking: “So, where did he go?” followed by a shot of Bear mysteriously lowering his hood, suggesting he’s been taking shelter in a barn. The mystery will unfold in forthcoming scenes across three special episodes, reports the Mirror.

The teaser has already stirred up excitement among fans, with one commenting on X: “Am sooo excited to see bear back! ! I am super invested in bears storyline! ! Can’t wait for his stand alone episode next week.”

One fan speculated that upon his return, Bear would ‘wipe the floor’ with the villainous Ray, who runs a drug empire alongside his mother. They commented: “When’s Bear back? He could probably wipe the floor with simp Ray. Although he’d probably be like a rat up a drainpipe with Celia!” Lisa Riley, who first graced our screens as Mandy in 1995, responded to the news by retweeting the clip and posting a series of crying face emojis.

Spoilers have already revealed Paddy gearing up to report his father Bear’s disappearance to the police. However, when it’s suggested he’s not an immediate risk, Paddy and Mandy decide to take action themselves.

But when Paddy’s daughter Eve believes she’s spotted her missing grandfather during a woodland walk, Matty is convinced she’s mistaken due to their ongoing bear hunt game. But has Eve truly seen Bear?

Earlier this year, actor Joshua Richards discussed Bear’s struggles and what lies ahead for his character.

“There’s an element of confusion in Bear’s thinking. I think he’s lashing out because he feels vulnerable and a bit afraid,” he shared. “He’s a man who, in the past, has been incredibly physically strong and has earned his living from being fit and healthy. And he can fight. He still has that capability,” he elaborated on Bear’s current mindset.

“But as you get older you question your viability to be the kind of person you were before, and therefore you become a vulnerable individual. There’s no status any more, and I think status for somebody who was an athlete and someone who had a great deal of respect for his prowess in the ring suddenly has nothing.”

He further stated: “If you have no dignity you can start lashing out because you do feel vulnerable and you’re open to attack.”
