Patrick Kane (upper-body injury) expected to join Detroit Red Wings end of this week

Detroit Red Wings on Axel Sandin Pellikka: ‘Sky’s the limit for him’

LAS VEGAS — The Detroit Red Wings anticipate gaining a superstar when they return home.
Patrick Kane appears likely to join practice on Thursday, Nov. 6, after being sidelined three weeks with an upper-body injury.
“There’s a real good chance he can skate with us on Thursday,” coach Todd McLellan said on Tuesday.
Kane hasn’t played since sliding into the boards late in the third period of the game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Oct. 17. He had been skating on his own when the Wings left on a five-game trip that will bring his total missed games to nine – that is, if he plays on Friday, when the Wings host the New York Rangers.
At least the news from back home sounds encouraging.
“We’re not there,” McLellan said. “But we’re getting feedback from some really important people, including Patrick, and we’re hoping he can practice with us and we’ll see where it goes.”
Kane, who turns 37 on Nov. 19, has two goals and three assists in five games. He plays on the second line, with Alex DeBrincat and Marco Kasper, and is also on the top power-play unit.
