A Celebrity Traitors star has disclosed that the cast were stripped of a ‘basic human right’ whilst filming, highlighting just how gruelling the production process truly is.
Viewers are keenly awaiting the explosive finale for the special edition of the reality gameshow broadcasting later this week (Thursday, November 6). Throughout the series, 19 famous faces and personalities have been assembled within the walls of a Scottish Castle to participate in what is billed as the ultimate game of deception.
The programme has proved an immediate success for BBC, featuring cherished stars including Stephen Fry, Celia Imrie and Joe Wilkinson. Host Claudia Winkleman chose comedian Alan Carr, presenter Jonathan Ross and singer Cat Burns as The Traitors.
Only Jonathan was unmasked before the final by the Faithfuls. Now, one of the cast members and fellow finalists has disclosed some of the behind-the-scenes secrets.

Actor Nick Mohammed confessed that the experience was ‘intense’ and it assisted everyone in taking the game seriously. Speaking on The Comedian’s Comedian Podcast, hosted by Stuart Goldsmith, shared before the series commenced, he said: “The way they create that show such that you are immersed in the game is phenomenal.”, reports Wales Online.
Nevertheless there were some rigid regulations imposed upon the cast. Nick added: “Obviously, all your devices are taken from you.
“I was allowed one phone conversation a day with the kids. You are isolated from the outside world. I think it’s alright to say this but we weren’t even allowed to know the time.”
Nick disclosed that every crew member gave identical responses when posed with a straightforward enquiry.
He explained: “So when we were filming, when we were in the castle, you’d be like, ‘What’s the time?’ And they’d be like, ‘It’s Traitors time.'”.

“That was their response; every single member of production had to answer with that.” Though it appears this practice was eventually abandoned, as Nick disclosed it had persisted “until someone kicked off and said, ‘It’s a basic human right; you can just tell us the time and it doesn’t mean anything’.”
He added: “But they are so clever and in the best possible way.” The Ted Lasso star proceeded to elaborate on why he believes audiences have become so engrossed in the programme.
He explained: “It’s such a hearty show. They don’t want people to clash, it’s not that kind of show, it’s not Big Brother.
“They’ve just got nice people who come from different walks of life. It’s a very feelgood show and of course the game is the game and you do get sucked into it, even though it’s a game and we were doing it for charity.”
The Celebrity Traitors Finale airs at 9pm on BBC One, Thursday, November 6 and streaming on iPlayer.
