Six Overs, Six Players, Pure Chaos – All You Need To Know About Hong Kong Sixes 2025

Six Overs, Six Players, Pure Chaos – All You Need To Know About Hong Kong Sixes 2025
The “cult favourite” Hong Kong Sixes 2025 is all set to begin on November 7 (Friday), with all matches scheduled at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok, Hong Kong. The three-day tournament will feature a total of 29 matches, culminating with the final on November 9 (Sunday).
The first edition of the Hong Kong Sixes was held in 1992, and since then, 20 editions of the fast-paced tournament have taken place. After South Africa’s triumph in 2017, the event went on a six-year hiatus before making a successful comeback in 2024, which was won by Sri Lanka.
Over the years, Pakistan, South Africa, and England have been the most successful teams with five titles each, while Sri Lanka have lifted the trophy twice. India (2005), Australia, and West Indies have each won it once.

Below, we break down everything you need to know about the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 – from rules and format to teams, pools, and the full schedule.
Rules You Need to Know
As the name suggests, each team fields six players, and every match is a six-over contest.
Every player (except the wicketkeeper) must bowl at least one over, with only one bowler allowed to deliver two overs.
Batters retire upon reaching 50 runs, but they can return to bat again once all other players have either been dismissed or retired.
If five wickets fall, the last batter continues to bat with a runner at the other end. He always takes the strike, and the innings ends only when all six players are out or the sixth over is completed.
