Andrioli Stresses Consistency and Calm in Key Moments Ahead of Western Sydney Clash

Adelaide United Head Coach Airton Andrioli says his side remains confident ahead of Friday night’s Round 4 clash with Western Sydney Wanderers.
Despite the results not going their way, Andrioli believes his team’s approach and execution are heading in the right direction.
Andrioli on the last two matches…
“We played those two games in a very positive manner. Against Macarthur, we created a lot of chances and dominated possession. It was similar in Auckland – the first half was even, but in the second half we dominated. It’s just a matter of being a little more clinical and executing better in those key moments.”
Andrioli on converting performances into results…
“Of course, everyone wants the win – that’s what builds confidence. But we can’t overlook the fact that everything we’re doing, and everything we’re asking of the players, is being implemented. The margins are very small, but that’s football. We just need to be more consistent in those decisive moments.”
Andrioli on training and focusing on finishing…
“We talk about finishing all the time. We do plenty of work on it in training – small exercises, individual scenarios – but in the end, it comes down to staying calm in the moment. We spoke to Luka about that – he doesn’t need to be desperate. Credit to him, he stayed composed and took his chance well against Auckland.”
Andrioli on squad fitness and availability…
“It was a long trip for everyone, but we’re fine now. Anselmo had a small setback, but he’s slowly reintegrating into training and should be available in the next few weeks. We just want to make sure he’s right before he comes back, because he’s an important player for us.”
Andrioli on Juan Muñiz’s progress…
“He’s getting better every time he plays. It’s all about building that foundation. He’s showing glimpses of what he can do, and now we just need to decide whether he starts or continues to make an impact off the bench.”
Andrioli on team selection and rotation…
“We assess every player individually. Sometimes you might need to rotate to keep players fresh, but consistency is also important. We’ll make as few changes as possible, based on what the team and the game require.”
Andrioli on Yaya Dukuly and Jonny Yull’s growth…
“Yaya’s been solid – consistent both in attack and defensively. Now it’s about consolidating that and continuing to be influential. Jonny’s another one- I’m really happy for him and all the young boys who are taking their chances. It’s never easy when you’re in and out of the team, but they’re responding well.”
