Things are heating up in Apple TV’s new original mystery thriller series, The Last Frontier, which finds a U.S. marshal fighting to keep it together after a prison transport plane crashes in the chilly Alaskan wilderness. In our exclusive new clip, which debuts a scene from this Friday’s episode, U.S. Marshal Frank Remnick, played by Jason Clarke, continues to maintain as much order as he can among the growing violence. You can check out the exclusive clip below…
Starring and executive produced by Jason Clarke, the next episode of The Last Frontier is all set to debut on Apple TV on Friday, November 7. In addition to Clarke, the ensemble cast includes Dominic Cooper (The Gold), Haley Bennett (The Magnificent Seven), Simone Kessell (Yellowjackets), Dallas Goldtooth (Reservation Dogs), and Tait Blum (For All Mankind), with Academy Award Nominee and multi-Emmy winner Alfre Woodard (Clemency).
Hailing from Apple Studios, The Last Frontier is executive produced by Jon Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio, who also serve as writers, alongside Jason Clarke, Laura Benson (The Big C), Glenn Kessler (Bloodlines), Albert Kim (Nikita), and series episodic director Sam Hargrave (Extraction).
‘The Last Frontier’ Has Been Praised as an “Engaging, Often Surprising Manhunt Thriller”
The Last Frontier follows Frank Remnick (Clarke), the lone U.S. marshal in charge of the quiet, rugged barrens of Alaska. Remnick’s jurisdiction is turned upside-down when a prison transport plane crashes in the remote wilderness, setting free dozens of violent inmates. Tasked with protecting the town he’s vowed to keep safe, he begins to suspect the crash wasn’t an accident, but the first step of a well-crafted plan with far-reaching and devastating implications.
MovieWeb’s own Jake Dee has described The Last Frontier as the “Wild Plane Crash Series Is the New Thriller You Didn’t Know You Needed,” which he says harks back to several great 90s thrillers such as the Nicolas Cage-led Con Air and Same Raimi’s underrated A Simple Plan. Jeff Ewing of Collider, meanwhile, praised The Last Frontier, calling the series an “engaging, often surprising manhunt thriller that elevates itself through a great central performance from Jason Clarke and smart, unexpected plotting that constantly evolves as the story unfolds.”
Once again, for those in the back, The Last Frontier continues to thrill this Friday, with the show set to debut its sixth episode of the ten-episode series. In the meantime, you can check out the official synopsis for The Last Frontier below…
