New update on Georges Dock Bridge works as Luas Red Line disruption continues

The new phase of building operations will include beam lifting, steel fixing, and concrete pouring over the coming days with some levels of noise disruption expected

Luas services will continue to be disrupted on the Red Line as progress on the rebuilding of the bridge at Georges Dock enters a “new phase”.

Following the fire in the area on Tuesday, 19 August, the bridge at George’s Dock needed to be demolished as it was “structurally compromised,” and is in the process of being rebuilt. Luas services cannot operate between Connolly and The Point while works take place.

The new phase of building is “progressing well” according to a new update, and they warn that “a certain level of noise is expected during these operations”. The operations will include beam lifting, steel fixing, and concrete pouring over the coming days.

They said: “Following the fire in the George’s Dock area on Tuesday, 19 August, Luas continues reconstruction works on the George’s Dock Bridge. We remain committed to keeping you informed about progress and ongoing activity in the area.

“Please note the upcoming works outlined below. Some activities may continue late into the night, and a certain level of noise is expected during these operations. We appreciate your patience and understanding while these essential works are carried out.

“Reconstruction works at George’s Dock Bridge are progressing well. Crews on site are now moving into the next phase, which includes beam lifting, steel fixing, and concrete pouring over the coming days. Some late evening and weekend activity will also take place to ensure key project milestones are achieved.

“We apologise for any disruption caused and thank you for your cooperation as we continue rebuilding George’s Dock Bridge.” They extended thanks to locals, businesses and customers for their patience and understanding while these works are underway. Further updates will be provided as the project progresses.

They are aiming for the completion of works at the end of November this year. Luas Red Line services will remain suspended between Connolly and The Point until that time.
