More than 18K customers lose power in Salt Lake County due to substation issues

MILLCREEK, Utah (KUTV) — Over 18,500 customers lost power in Salt Lake County, with the estimated restoration time six hours out.
According to officials with Rocky Mountain Power, the power outage was caused by the “loss of a substation” on Friday afternoon in Salt Lake County. They did not provide details on what caused the substation to go out of service.
Officials initially estimated the outage could last until 8:30 p.m., but restored power to nearly 13,000 customers before 3 p.m. They said the remaining 5,500 customers could be without power until 10:30 p.m.
