Elon Musk’s ex issued an unhinged warning about a “super-intelligence” or “infant God” that will outlive humanity if, she says, we don’t act imminently.

Grimes, “semi-separated” from Musk whom she shares three children with, said AI is “likely” to be the dominant form of intelligence in the future., and through AI we’re building a future entity that will bring our demise. “I think the odds are very low that superintelligence doesn’t eventually end in our extinction,” she told Doomscroll’s Joshua Citarella. She did not elaborate on how this would play out. She added: “I think there’s a chance there can be 20,000 years of co-living with the superintelligence.”

Claire Elise Boucher, or Grimes as she is known, and Musk continue to co-parent their son X Æ A-Xii Musk, born in 2020. However, they also have two more children Exa Dark Sideræl and Techno Mechanicus together, and now the exact state of their relationship is unknown.

However, Grimes made it clear she thinks AI, an increasingly central feature of Musk’s X app, will bring the end of human-kind. If we want to enjoy the “20,000 years of co-living with the superintelligence,” then “we need to employ better strategies than we are now.”

Musk, who also owns Tesla continues to promote the Grok Imagine the visual edition of his AI technology, through social media posts. In a recent post, Musk claimed the Grok Imagine aims to give users “superhuman imagination powers.”

Grimes added: “In someways I can’t wait for super intelligence – in some ways I can’t wait. It’s not as easy since I’ve had kids. I do think in the dream world we can have something that lives with us in a nice way – that helps us but also probably has its own opinions.”

Grimes released a new song ‘Artificial Angels’ in October, written from the perspective of AI, saying “this is what it feels like to be hunted by something smarter than you.”

Another thing that’s been keeping the pop star awake at night is Neanderthals. She said: “I’ve been thinking about neanderthals a lot.” Grimes finds their extinction “really sad”. “I think we had neanderthals for like over a million years – far longer than we’ve had humans – and this disturbs me a lot. Like it keeps me up at night” Neanderthals lived for around 400,000 years according to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.
