Reba McEntire and Belissa Escobedo return as half-sisters Bobbie and Isabella, navigating family chaos with heart and humor. But this season, the emotions run deeper than ever.

“So much of this second season is everyone really peeling back and showing their vulnerable moments,” Escobedo shared with our entertainment reporter Courtney Tezeno. McEntire added, “At first, everybody would kind of expect Bobbie to be mad, and she probably was, but then she put herself in Isabella’s shoes…Everybody kind of embraces Isabella and brings her in as part of the family. We’re a mixed group.”

That family bond extends offscreen. Escobedo gushed about working with the country music legend, saying, “With how big she is, one would think it must be so intimidating, but Reba genuinely feels so down to earth…It felt so easy, it felt so fluid. There was no like nervousness around her ever. McEntire added, “I think we gelled quickly.”

Rex Linn, who stars alongside McEntire as Emmett (and is her real-life fiancé), said Season 2 has reached “another level.” “The show’s growing up, whether it’s the writing, the acting, or the directing, you can feel it,” he said. “It’s off the charts.” Tokala Black Elk (Tokada) added that the cast’s rhythm “feels so much more natural” this year, calling the environment “a delight to be a part of.”

Meanwhile, Melissa Peterman and Pablo Castelblanco continue to deliver comedic gold. Peterman, who starred with McEntire on “Reba” from 2001 to 2007, teased the return of JoAnna Garcia Swisher (Cheyenne) for a cameo fans won’t want to miss.

“She’s ridiculously funny, and it pays off in a big way,” Peterman said. “Between takes, Reba, JoAnna, and I would just be gabbing and giggling and catching up we’re genuinely still friends.”

Peterman also reflected on McEntire’s real-life romance with Linn and their chemistry on and off-screen. “They’re adorable 24/7 sometimes it legitimately looks like they’re on a date. I’m tickled by their love.”
