The Daily: Hats Off to Bertuzzi; Praise for Genborg

For those who still miss former Red Wings player Tyler Bertuzzi and his playing style, take note that he will be at Little Caesars Arena Sunday for a visit.
And he’s coming in hot.
Bertuzzi scored three third period goals to power the Chicago Blackhawks to a 5-2 road win against the Vancouver Canucks Wednesday. The win ended a three-game Blackhawks winless streak. The Blackhawks’ road trip continues with a game at Calgary Friday and then a Sunday matinee (1 p.m.) in Detroit.
Bertuzzi is the seventh Blackhawks player in the past 30 years to record a hat trick in a single period. He’s the sixth player in NHL history to score a hat trick for three Original Six teams. Bertuzzi also had hat tricks while playing for the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs.
This season, Bertuzzi is back with coach Jeff Blashill, who previously coached him in Grand Rapids and Detroit.
“He’s a guy you appreciate more from ice level than you might from up top,” Blashill told NHL.com. “Skating doesn’t always look great, but man, he wins pucks, and that’s kind of who he’s always been for me. He’s great on that back post. He’s really learned over the years how to build a wall on that back post, and people shoot for it, and they go in. It’s a great way to score. ‘Bert,’ for me, has been very good all season, and he had another good one tonight.”

Detroit prospect Eddie Genborg is playing an average of roughly 17 minutes per game in the SHL. That’s the most by a junior-age player. Popular Swedish player turned TV analyst Sanny Lindstrom said this about Genborg: “One of the big exclamation points in the SHL this fall is undoubtedly Eddie Genborg. With his 13 points, Genborg is the best junior in terms of points so far…What I like most about Genborg is his relentless and bulldozer-like play.” … The Grand Rapids Griffins assigned former University of Michigan defenseman Jacob Truscott to the Toledo Walleye.
