Kyrie Irving Fantasy Outlook: Should You Draft the Dallas Mavericks Point Guard This Year?

It’s the final weekend before the NBA regular season begins, which means you’re coming here for your fantasy basketball drafts.
Should you draft Kyrie Irving this season? Here’s the latest outlook, projections, and rankings for the Dallas Mavericks Point Guard.
Should You Draft Kyrie Irving in Fantasy Basketball?
Kyrie Irving is expected to be sidelined until at least January as he recovers from a torn left ACL he suffered on March 3, casting doubt on his 2025-26 fantasy value.
Before his injury, Irving remained one of the NBA’s most efficient and dynamic shot creators in Year 14, taking on a heavier offensive workload after Dallas shockingly traded Luka Dončić at the trade deadline. Across 50 appearances last season, the nine-time All-Star averaged 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.3 steals, and 2.9 3-pointers per game on elite 47.3/40.1/91.6 shooting splits.
However, at age 33, there’s no guarantee Irving will return to form post-rehab, especially being a smaller guard (6-foot-2). With the Mavericks signing D’Angelo Russell as a fill-in for Irving and integrating 2025 No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg, they will likely be cautious with their lead playmaker. As such, Irving profiles as a high-risk, late-round stash who may face limitations upon his return.
