Thunder, Nuggets Cruise 🚢

There weren’t any surprises in the night’s final two contests. The Nuggets and Thunder are two of the premiere teams out west, and maintained control throughout. Oklahoma City starts off a clean 1-0 in Group A, while the Nuggets bounced back from a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers in their first Group C contest.

Too much Heat 🔥🔥

Miami starts off their NBA Cup play on a positive note, taking down the Charlotte Hornets 126-108. Even without Bam Adebayo or Tyler Herro, there was too much firepower for Charlotte to match. Hornets Rookie Kon Knueppel made the most of his 40 minutes of action, scoring 30 points and setting a new career-high in the process.

Jaime Jaquez Jr. turned in one of the night’s top moments in the fourth quarter, making his defender fall en route to a strong finish at the rim. He’s thrived off the bench, averaging 17.4 points per game this season. However, both he and Norman Powell exited with ankle injuries that will need to be monitored moving forward.

The Denver Nuggets hold a big lead, and the players are getting loose in the third quarter. Aaron Gordon strings together a sick handle that was punctuated at the rim, a sequence worth multiple angles. Jamal Murray is also dialed in, both getting his own shots and finding open teammates.

2nd halves underway ⏳

  • Nuggets find rhythm before the break: Jamal Murray heated up in the second quarter, and finished the half with 19 points. Golden State, playing without Stephen Curry and Al Horford, will have to find some ways to slow down this Denver attack if they want to win tonight.

  • The half of Hartenstein: Even with Chet Holmgren in the lineup, Isaiah Hartenstein is owning the interior. He’s up to a season-high 20 points already, plus 11 boards so far. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is his steady self as well, on pace for another 30-point outing.

Raptors get it done on the road 🧳

Toronto becomes the first team in the league to notch a pair of wins in group play. This group is dangerous night-in and night-out, due to a balanced attack that was on display tonight. All five starters for the Raptors ended in double figures, led by Brandon Ingram with 20.

— Toronto Raptors (@Raptors) November 8, 2025

While the Raptors boast a mostly healthy rotation, the Hawks are dealing with the extended absence of point guard Trae Young. In his absence, Dyson Daniels is flashing what he can do with more playmaking responsibilities. Atlanta will have to figure out how to survive in this tournament almost entirely without Young, as he nurses a sprained MCL.

Cold night for Utah in Minny 🥶

As a team, the Utah Jazz shot 37.2% in what would result in their second loss during NBA Cup play in as many games. The Timberwolves were stifling on defense, collecting 10 blocks and steals apiece. On offense, Minnesota was also clicking. Anthony Edwards led the charge, only needing 26 minutes for a game-high 37 points while drilling seven of Minnesota’s 17 triples. Check out Ant Man’s top plays below.

The Jazz’s hopes of advancing in Cup play are bleak, now falling to 0-2 combined with tonight’s 40-point margin of defeat. Outside of Cup play, the team must also get used to life without Walker Kessler, who will miss the rest of the season with a torn labrum.

Pistons keep chugging, steamroll Nets 🚂

5 wins in a row for #DetroitBasketball pic.twitter.com/HjBUfhSVLW

— Detroit Pistons (@DetroitPistons) November 8, 2025

The Pistons entered their first NBA Cup matchup playing good basketball, and the Brooklyn Nets were simply no match. Cade Cunningham continues to play at an All-NBA level, ending the game with 34 points on 72.2% shooting, alongside 10 assists. This continues to be a breakout stretch for Jalen Duren as well, who was even more efficient than Cunningham. The Detroit anchor totaled 30 points and 11 rebounds on 11-14 shooting.

It’s not always grit and grind in the Motor City. Cunningham threw down this windmill highlight late in the third quarter, earning a Kodak moment in the process.

1Q Down 📝

  • Nuggets 32, Warriors 31 (9:45 2Q) – The Warriors are in the midst of a 10-nothing run, cutting Denver’s lead to just one point. The stretch happened entirely in the first 2:15 of the second frame, with Nuggets center Nikola Jokić on the bench.
  • Thunder 42, Kings 37 (8:54 2Q) – One subplot in this NBA Cup matchup, is Russell Westbrook playing against the team that drafted him for the first time with his latest club. Isaiah Hartenstein did damage early in this one. He’s already up to 15 points and six rebounds in just nine minutes.

10:20 PM / NOVEMBER 7, 2025

Spurs ground rockets 121-110

San Antonio starts off NBA Cup group play the same way it began the regular season, with a win over an in-state rival. On opening night, the Spurs crushed the Mavericks, tonight they finished battled Houston all night and prevailed down the stretch. All Spurs starters scored at least 14 points. Justin Champagnie and Victor Wembanyama each poured in 22 while Harrison Barnes led the team in scoring with 24.

What we know about Friday night hoops

The second night of the Emirates NBA Cup begins tonight, with 22 teams in action across the league, including 14 that are making their Cup debuts. Here are the key dates and schedule of the tournament, with Group Play wrapping up on Friday, November 28.

Alperen Sengun is averaging 22.4 points, 9.9 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.6 steals for the Rockets this season.

The Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs will begin their chase of the 2025 Emirates NBA Cup in the first of two star-studded matchups on Amazon Prime. Both teams are 5-2 on the season, with the Rockets leading the NBA in scoring at 124.7 points per game.

The Celtics look to improve to 2-0 in Group Play as they visit the Magic, who will be playing in their Cup opener (7 ET, League Pass).

Cleveland (0-1 in Cup) is in Washington to take on the Wizards in their Cup debut (East Group A), and they’ll be aiming to snap a six-game losing streak in the process (7 ET, League Pass).

Both the Raptors and Hawks, who battle in Atlanta tonight (7:30 ET, League Pass), are 1-0 in East’s Group A, while the Pistons and Nets square off in their Cup openers in Brooklyn (7:30 ET, League Pass).

A red-hot Bulls (1-0 in Cup) squad led by Josh Giddey are in Milwaukee to take on 2024’s Emirates NBA Cup champions (8 ET, League Pass) in Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks (0-0).

Anthony Edwards, who scored 15 in his return from a hamstring injury on Wednesday night, leads the Timberwolves in their Cup opener as they host Lauri Markkanen and the Utah Jazz (0-1 in Cup) tonight (8 ET, League Pass).

Golden State visits the Denver Nuggets (10 ET, Prime) in our national doubleheader night-cap, but they’ll be doing so without Stephen Curry (illness).

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder are in Sacramento to take on the Kings (10 ET, League Pass), with both teams making their Cup debuts this evening. Oklahoma City (8-1) is coming off their first loss of the season on Wednesday.
