Barcelona have reportedly already engaged in conversations with Manchester United over Marcus Rashford.
Rashford is currently enjoying a loan spell in La Liga until next summer after falling out of favour under head coach Ruben Amorim. The 28-year-old has scored five goals and set up seven assists in 13 appearances across La Liga and the Champions League.
Barcelona hold a £28 million purchase option for Rashford – notably lower than the £40m United would demand from other suitors. Despite having more than two-and-a-half years left on his contract, Rashford’s future at Old Trafford looks uncertain.
Heading into the New Year, Barcelona are reportedly already planning for the end of Rashford’s loan spell. While a second loan is considered unlikely, Spanish outlet Sport claim the Catalans are working to ‘outline an agreement’ with United.
The report adds that following further talks, they’ll decide whether to trigger the buy clause. But for now, the club are reportedly leaning toward a ‘yes’.
With that said, the key talking point remains Rashford’s contract and salary, with one option being a long-term deal on reduced wages. It is also being reported that Rashford’s representatives have already held talks with Barcelona and are ‘willing’ to reach an agreement running until the summer of 2030.

Rashford has already made his stance on Barcelona clear, expressing a desire to stay at the club for many years. “I am really enjoying my time in Spain; the weather is the best,” he said.
“A very big change. I’m learning every day, I’m enjoying it a lot. I hope to be here for a long time. I get along very well with Roony [Bardghji], also Jules [Kounde] or Frenkie [de Jong].
“It’s a team in which we all mix. We are united. The team is fantastic, I just have to be in the right position. I’ll keep trying to do this. We have to keep it up to be our best version. We have a lot more to do this season.”
