Ballybrack sees double as ‘Bono’ helps launch new Domino’s

Ballybrack got a surprise dose of rock ‘n’ roll today when Bono appeared in town — or at least someone who looks an awful lot like him.

The U2 frontman wasn’t actually behind the shades, though. Instead, it was world-famous Bono doppelgänger Pavel Sfera, who flew in from Los Angeles to help Domino’s mark the opening of its brand-new Ballybrack store.

Pavel made it a Beautiful Day for locals, spending the afternoon singing U2 classics, posing for selfies and handing out free pizza slices to commuters at Killiney DART station, just down the road from the real Bono’s home.

The playful stunt was a wink to Ballybrack’s most famous neighbour and gave locals a launch-day opening they won’t forget.

‘If Domino’s can’t get the real Bono, we’ll happily take the next best thing,’ said Eoin Corrigan, Head of Marketing at Domino’s.

‘Pavel had everyone singing, smiling and grabbing a free slice. It’s definitely a Beautiful Day to open in Ballybrack.’

The new Domino’s Ballybrack opened today (December 15) at noon, and to celebrate, customers can get any size pizza for €13.99 (collection only) when ordering online, through the Domino’s app or in-store.

The offer runs from December 15 to January 4.

Pavel added: ‘Any day you get to sing U2 tunes and give people pizza is a Monday Bloody Monday well spent. I’m honoured to welcome Domino’s to Bono’s backyard — even if I am only the tribute act.’
