Gavin & Stacey superfans take note. – you can now stay in one of the houses in Barry made famous by the BBC One sitcom that came to a glorious end last Christmas.
Trinity Street, a bit further into Barry proper and that looks down at the Island, was home to Gwen and Stacey, Uncle Bryn and sassy, naughty neighbour, Doris – played unforgettably by Margaret John.
When it returned to our screens in 2019, the house was used as Gavin and Stacey’s home with their children after it was handed down to them after Doris’s death.
The house where Gwen (Melanie Walters) lived has always been a popular stop for fans but now next door is available to rent for holidaymakers keen to really feel what it’s like to live in Gavin & Stacey’s world.
Named ‘Lush House’, the red-brick terrace on the hill is owned by super-fans of the show, Lisa and Chris Molloy who were the first people to view the property when it was put on the market and were lucky enough to snap it up after being huge fans of the sitcom since it aired in 2008.
Available to book on Sykes Cottages, Lush House is available to book as soon as next week and prices start at £472 for two nights.
The cosy and comfy living room
It sleeps five over two bedrooms, one double and one with a three-person bunk. The living and dining area is comfortably furnished and features an electric fire, TV and WiFi for chilled evenings in after exploring the local sights, and a dining table, but for God’s sake, don’t forget the salad.

Unfortunately, the Christmas week is already booked out and we hope that whoever stays has planned the most serious of Gavin & Stacey marathons.

The home has been the setting to some of Gavin & Stacey’s most memorable scenes including saucy Doris snogging toyboy Scott, making a pass at Gav on the doorstep, and in the 2019 and 2024 Christmas specials, it was the setting for the whole gang to celebrate Christmas as Rob Brydon’s Uncle Bryn’s military operation dinner was (part) cooked there.
Go out the front door and you are minutes away from Barry’s high street and Barry Island – where Marco’s Cafe, the slots and the chip shops are at the beach front – is half an hour’s walk.
