Davina McCall announces tragic breast cancer diagnosis year after emergency brain surgery

Davina McCall has revealed she had breast cancer – almost a year after undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumour. The Masked Singer judge, 58, told fans she found a lump a few weeks ago in an emotional video posted on Instagram today. The presenter was flooded with messages of support as she captioned the heartbreaking video: “The message here, is know your boobs. Notice any changes. Don’t procrastinate. Get your free checkups. And never ignore a niggle. Sending out huge love.”

The on-screen star, who recently underwent an emergency operation for a brain tumour, explained she discovered a lump in her breast just weeks ago. The mum-of-two assured fans she has since been given the all clear that the cancer has not spread after having the lump removed. Davina shared she will undergo radiotherapy treatment in January but added she is “lucky” the cancer has not spread.

She began: “Hello, I’m talking about this because it might help someone and this is what I always do. I just wanted to tell you that I have had breast cancer. I found a lump a few weeks ago. It came and went. And then I was on the Masked Singer and Lorraine Kelly, her TV show, put signs on the back of the doors saying, ‘Check your breasts.'”

Davina continued: “I did that and it was still there. Then one morning I saw it in the mirror and I said, ‘I’m going to get that looked at.’

“So I had a biopsy. I found out it was indeed breast cancer. I had it taken out in a lumptectomy nearly three weeks ago.

She explained that the “margins were very, very small” and the doctors caught the diagnosis early.

“I’m so very lucky,” Davina commented, “and so relieved to have had it removed and to know it hasn’t spread.”

The presenter explained her lymph nodes were all clear.

Davina said she will now undergo five days of radiotherapy in January.
