First snowfall of the season could arrive in Region this weekend

If you have been putting off getting your winter tires put on, you may be kicking yourself come Sunday.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Waterloo Region and the surrounding area, warning of the possibility of accumulating snow to wrap up the weekend.

How much snow? Two to 10 centimetres is possible beginning Sunday morning and lasting into the evening.

In its statement, the weather agency said, “Confidence remains low with respect to the strength and track of this weather system.”

That accounts for the uncertainty of accumulation expected and calls into question just how hard hit Waterloo Region will be.

With this being, potentially, the first snowfall of the season, drivers are advised to slow down and give themselves extra time to get where they need to be.

If heavy snowfall does materialize, you may want to reconsider travel plans.
