Indianapolis Monumental Marathon 2025: Schedule, Race Course and Everything You Need to Know

The Indianapolis Monumental Marathon 2025 is all set to be held on Nov. 08 (Saturday). The upcoming edition of the marathon is expected to feature more than 17,000 participants, with several other races also being held in addition to the traditional marathon.

The marathon is also a significant opportunity for the participants who want to qualify for the Boston Marathon next year, scheduled for April 20. On that note, let’s learn the essential details for the Indianapolis event.

What Is the Schedule of the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon 2025?

Here is the complete order of events for the marathon:

Nov 07: 

11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.- Monumental Health & Fitness Expo and Packet Pickup

Nov. 08:

6:30 a.m.- Participants receive the gear check bags

8:00 a.m.- Half and full marathon stars

8:00 a.m.- 5K race starts

3:30 p.m.- Course of the race closes

What Is the Race Course of the Marathon?

The marathon is scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m. from West Street, after participants receive their gear bags from the intersection of Washington Street and West Street. The course of the marathon is 26.2 miles long and covers several parts of the region, including downtown Indianapolis, before culminating at the Indiana Statehouse.

The organizers have also curated a separate warm-up area for the runners, with Expo Hall B and C of the Indiana Convention Center serving this purpose. For the marathon, the region around Indianapolis will also experience several road closures, primarily in the downtown area.

What Is the Prize Money and What Importance Does the Marathon Hold for the Region?

The winners of the men’s and women’s marathon events will earn approximately $1,200 USD, while the second-place finishers will receive $750. Additionally, the top-placed participant among the master’s participants will get $250, and the top-placed Indiana runner will also bag the same amount.

On the other hand, the half-marathon winners will receive an award of $800 in both the men’s and women’s categories. Besides, the top master’s participants in the half-marathon event will earn $150.

Besides the top-placed contestants, the region of Indiana has also immensely benefited from this marathon. Title sponsor CNO Financial Group’s chief marketing officer said, “It’s been remarkable to witness the event’s growth and its lasting impact on the central Indiana community. The race not only attracts elite runners from around the world, but it also generates an estimated $11.1 million for the local economy.”

Besides CNO Financial Group, the marathon is also sponsored by notable organizations, including Indiana University Indianapolis, Brooks, Apex Benefits, and Domino’s.
