MV Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin was on way to Quebec
DETROIT – A 738-foot freighter has run aground in the Detroit River near the Renaissance Center.

The MV Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin was on its way to Quebec from Sault Ste. Marie.
Our Windsor camera shows the freighter stuck perpendicular to the shoreline.
It’s not clear what the freighter is hauling or how it ran aground.
Local 4 reached out to the Coast Guard for information.
“Coast Guard personnel are closely monitoring the soft grounding of a Canadian-flagged motor vessel in the Detroit River, Michigan on Friday.
There have been no reports of injuries, pollution or impact to the marine transportation system.
Coast Guard Sector Detroit received report of the 740-foot motor vessel Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin running soft aground in the Detroit River, in vicinity of the Renaissance Center.
Due to low visibility during night operations, plans to re-float the motor vessel are scheduled to be assessed on Saturday morning.”
