Tom Cruise is celebrating Glen Powell’s new film, The Running Man.
The Mission: Impossible star, 63, shared a post on Instagram showing him celebrating the movie alongside his Top Gun: Maverick costar Powell, 37, and other cast and crew members at a recent screening.
Cruise kicked off his Thursday, Nov. 6 post with a snap of him and Powell holding up matching popcorn boxes that showed an image of the latter running with the film’s title in large bold letters underneath. The pair smiled widely as Cruise put his hand on Powell’s shoulder.
A second photo showed the Minority Report actor with more of movie’s cast, including Coleman Domingo, Lee Pace and Emilia Jones, and director Edgar Wright posing together in a theater while all holding up their popcorn buckets.
“Another great night out with my friends at the movies! You guys crushed it, congratulations! I laughed, was on the edge of my seat and ate way too much popcorn,” Cruise captioned the post.

This isn’t anything new for the action star, who previously supported the Hit Man actor at the London premiere of his film Twisters in July 2024. Powell shared a photo of the pair’s reunion on Instagram at the time.
“When your wingman follows you into the storm … 😎🌪️🇬🇧,” Powell wrote in the caption, referring to Cruise.
The pair starred together in 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick, which grossed nearly $1.5 billion globally at the box office and became the fifth-highest-grossing movie of all time in the United States.
Cruise reprised his role as Navy officer Pete Mitchell, which he originated in the smash hit Top Gun; in the sequel, Powell appeared in his breakout role as Lt. Jake “Hangman” Seresin.
In January, it was reported that a third installment of the franchise was in talks following the success of Maverick, per The Hollywood Reporter. Powell briefly addressed his involvement in the rumored sequel while speaking at a panel for Hit Man at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, saying, “That is all classified.”

“It’s really up to Tom. It’s up to [producer Jerry Bruckheimer]. It’s up to all the powers that be,” he added, noting that “if they call me back to Miramar, I’ll be there.”
The Running Man releases in theaters on Nov. 14.
