David Moyes has made just one change to his Everton starting line-up – but it is a team that will look quite different as a result.

Tim Iroegbunam will start against Fulham, replacing Jake O’Brien. It is a switch that will likely see James Garner moved to right back. Iroegbunam had a positive cameo off the bench in the closing stages at Sunderland and that appears to have been enough to convince Moyes to give him a first Premier League start since the home win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Moyes’ call means he has kept faith with Thierno Barry to lead the frontline – as he did at the Stadium of Light. Barry enjoyed a good start to that match, creating an early chance for Garner and helping to win the ball back for the move that led to Iliman Ndiaye’s goal.

His miss at the back post was widely seen as a turning point in the game though – one that Moyes highlighted as a key moment in galvanising Sunderland into earning a point.

The 23-year-old was handed a yellow card as his frustration rose in the aftermath of the goal, that booking proving influential in Moyes’ decision to withdraw him early in the second half for Beto. Everton’s backroom staff have spoken to the France youth international about the need to avoid unnecessary bookings but he will now get another big chance to open his Everton account against Fulham.

As expected, Ndiaye also starts. He was withdrawn injured in the second half at Sunderland but Moyes said on Friday that he had returned to training.

Starting XI: Pickford; Garner, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko; Iroegbunam, Gueye; Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish; Barry
