One of the strangest aspects of the U-17 World Cup in Qatar is the fact that Spain are absent, having failed to qualify.

Their strongest link to the tournament comes from an Irish-born, Spanish-based footballer who will help the side in their next test on Saturday, with a family link to one of the all-time greats from the west of Ireland.
