McKay says Morton know the challenge facing them as Arbroath come to Greenock

MORTON know the threat they will face this weekend when third-placed Arbroath come to Cappielow, says Zak McKay.
Colin Hamilton’s Gayfield side come into this Saturday’s game as one of the division’s highest scoring sides, having handed Ross County a 3-0 defeat on home turf last time out.

The Red Lichties have been in good form since coming up from League One at the start of the season and will pose a tough test for Dougie Imrie’s team this weekend.

Ton forward McKay says he and his team-mates will be wary of the danger posed by the visitors – but says the Cappielow men will put the form book aside and make sure their full focus is on getting a good result.
He added: “We know Arbroath are on a good run, they beat the two Premiership teams from last season.

“They’ll be going in full of confidence but we’ve got to match that and put our results to the side and just try to get that win on Saturday.”
Last time the teams met, at Gayfield Park in September, Ton required a scrambled strike from another new Cappielow arrival, Jackson Longridge, in the final 10 minutes of the game to salvage a draw against the second tier new boys.

The Angus club have lost just once at home since their return to the Championship – in stark contrast to Morton, who have yet to pick up a win on home turf this season despite several encouraging performances.
Cappielow has long enjoyed a reputation as a difficult place for visiting teams to come and get a result – though that reputation took something of a battering as a result of St Johnstone’s 4-0 win the last time Ton played at home – and McKay says he and his team-mates want to once again make it a ground opposing sides fear visiting.
“We just want to make this home ground a fortress,” he added
“We want people not to want to come here and play.”
