A Co Galway council worker has lost a challenge to his dismissal after his employer found that he had stolen over €1,600 worth of diesel bought using public money.

The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) has rejected a complaint under the Unfair Dismissals Act 1977 by the worker, Michael Walsh, challenging Galway County Council’s decision to dismiss him for gross misconduct.
