Absences and Decisive Decisions Before the Jeddah Derby.. Galeno in Doubt and Diaby Continues Rehabilitation
A special source told “Al-Riyadiyah” that the Brazilian winger, Winderson Galeno, of Al-Ahli team, has not yet decided on his participation in the Jeddah Derby against Al-Ittihad, scheduled to take place at the Al-Inma Stadium as part of the eighth round of the Roshen Saudi League.
Jalino is suffering from a muscle injury he sustained during the match against Egypt’s Pyramids in the Intercontinental Cup at the end of September last year, which kept him off the field for about two months. He has recently started a gradual return to team training.
Sources revealed that the player has not yet regained his full fitness, and it is expected that he will find it difficult to play the entire match for 90 minutes. Coach Matthias Jaissle will make his final decision during the final training session on Friday regarding whether to include him in the starting lineup or keep him on the bench.
Since joining Al Ahly from Portuguese club Porto last summer, Galeno has participated in 25 matches, scoring seven goals and providing six assists, making him one of the key attacking players in the team.
On the other hand, the Portuguese coach Sergio Conceicao of Al-Ittihad decided to rest the French player Moussa Diaby from field training, opting for a rehabilitation program in the gym, in preparation for his return in the final session before the upcoming match.
The training sessions of Al-Ittihad saw the participation of former French star Karim Benzema, indicating his full readiness, amidst an enthusiastic atmosphere within the Al-Ittihad camp in preparation for one of the strongest derbies of the season in Jeddah.
