The international break is much maligned but my goodness, we probably all need a breather after the past eight days of Championship action.

Coventry lost their unbeaten record in their last away game at Wrexham but rolled their sleeves up and found a way to win in their top-of-the-table clash at Stoke, leaving it late to snatch a 1-0 win to go five points clear at the top.

No Rob Edwards, no problem for Middlesbrough who leapfrogged the Potters into second courtesy of a 2-1 home win over Birmingham, while Hull City have gategrashed the play-off places with a lunchtime win over Portsmouth, while Millwall and Preston shared a 1-1 draw and Charlton lost at Wrexham.

Ipswich are up to seventh, with a game in hand, after 11 points from the past four games while Derby’s lunchtime win at Blackburn took them into the top-10, two points behind the play-off spots.

Wins for Leicester, Wrexham and West Brom have them looking up from mid-table and not over their shoulder while at the foot of the table Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich both lost, while Sheffied United played out a statemate with QPR to leapfrog the Canaries, and Oxford and Portsmouth also go into the break off the back losing games they were winning.
