The Reds are constantly looking to improve their firepower.

Liverpool were linked to several attacking talents in the summer of 2024.

Amidst the end of Jurgen Klopp’s reign and the impending start of Arne Slot’s tenure, many attacking targets were pinpointed to kickstart Slot’s time on Merseyside.

Despite all the apparent interest, Liverpool would go on to sign just one player in the summer of 2024, and that was Federico Chiesa from Juventus.

However, one of the targets on Liverpool’s list that summer would have been some signing.

Julian Alvarez was linked to numerous clubs when he left Manchester City in the summer of 2024.

Liverpool were in the mix, and had a chance, before the Argentine opted for the regular playing time that Atletico Madrid offered him.

A clear pathway was presented to the striker, and he has since gone on to hugely impress for the La Liga outfit.

When it was rumoured back in 2024 that Liverpool were potentially interested in the signing of Alvarez, they were reportedly exploring a deal that would see Luis Diaz go the other way.

Manchester City were quick to shut that down, saying “we don’t sell to rivals.”

Now, Julian Alvarez has revealed another club that was interested in his services before his switch to Spain, and that was PSG.

The Parisians reportedly offered a sizeable economic package to Alvarez, but the Argentine striker new there were more opportunities for him with Atletico Madrid.

“In Spain there is a lot of talk aout me and Bareclona. When I signed for Atletico last year, there was a lot of talk about Paris.”

“It is true that there were conversations between the PSG Managers and my agent, they showed interest in signing me, but it did not materialise.”

“For now, I’m focused on Atletico. We will take stock at the end of the season.”

“I chose to come to Atletico because I felt that I could earn my place here and give the best version of myself, thanks to the space they offered me.”

Any potential opening for a future signing of Julian Alvarez now appears to be closed for the Reds, as the expensive signings of both Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak has now flooded Liverpool’s attacking department with world class talent that will see them in to the future for many years to come.
