As it happened: Kangaroos secure Ashes clean sweep

The Kangaroos have claimed an Ashes clean sweep after Harry Grant led Australia to victory at a sold-out Headingley in Leeds.
The visitors were forced to absorb considerable pressure early in the second half before the dummy half broke through for a crucial try in the 61st minute.
The four-pointer swung the game in the Kangaroos favour they didn’t look back. Fullback Reece Walsh added two tries of his own in the final 10 minutes to secure a 30-8 victory over England.
The match was much closer than the scoreline suggested, with the hosts pulling within four at half-time and generating multiple scoring opportunities after the break.
The Kangaroos were tested but their defence was ultimately up to the task as they worked their way to a 3-0 Ashes victory.

Reece Walsh 2nd Try
78th minute: Reece Walsh has his second double of the series, the fullback stepping past the England defence to put an exclamation point on the victory. The try came from a fairly simply scrum move, with Walsh dancing off his left foot to step past the sliding defenders. England 8 – Kangaroos 30.

Harry Grant saves his best for last
75th minute: Victory is in sight now for the Kangaroos and Harry Grant has been named the man of the match. England executed a short kick off following the Reece Walsh try and had a couple of sets of six in attacking territory but the Kangaroos held firm and they are minutes away from a clean sweep. England 8 – Kangaroos 24.

Reece Walsh 1st Try
69th minute: Reece Walsh has scored one of the more unusual tries we’ll see this year. The fullback threw a cutout pass that should have been intercepted, instead Harry Newman dropped it, the ball bounced straight back into Walsh’s hands and he strolled over untouched. You’d normally put that down to luck, but the way Walsh has been playing lately, it could have been a pre-planned move. The lead has suddenly blown out to 16 and the visitors are well on their way to a clean sweep. England 8 – Kangaroos 24.
67th minute: It’s time for England to use their Captain’s Challenge now after Kallum Watkins spilled the ball in a tackle. The hosts argued the ball was knocked out, the video referee disagrees and England have lost their challenge and possession. England 8 – Kangaroos 18.

Harry Grant Try
62nd minute: England have dominated the second half but it’s the Kangaroos who strike first. A poor kick handed the visitors a seven-tackle set before ill-discipline allowed Australia to build pressure in attacking territory. The hosts eventually cracked after Harry Grant threw a dummy and darted over from the base of the ruck. The Kangaroos had chances to take two points, but they went for the try and the risk paid off. England 8 – Kangaroos 18.

Tempers flare at Headingley
54th minute: The Kangaroos have successfully defended their own line as tensions threaten to boil over at Headingley. England were pressing until Mike McMeeken spilled the ball in a tackle, easing the pressure on the visitors. Australia, however, have conceded a penalty with ball in hand after a third melee in the space of a few minutes and referee Grant Atkins has had enough. England 8 – Kangaroos 12.
52nd minute: England continue to maintain the upper-hand and the pressure is building on the Kangaroos. The visitors have made multiple errors in their own half and have now been forced into two consecutive line dropouts as the hosts push for the equaliser in front of a vocal sold-out crowd at Headingley. England 8 – Kangaroos 12.
44th minute: Josh Addo-Carr is claiming a spectacular try, but referee Grant Atkins has sent it upstairs as no try, ruling the winger offside from a Cameron Munster kick. Addo-Carr is not in the frame in the only camera angle available, meaning the on-field decision stands and England survive. England 8 – Australia 12.
Kick-off: This match is evenly poised at the beginning of the second half, with England the better team for large portions of the opening 40 minutes. A penalty goal on the stroke of half-time helped the hosts pull within four points and they’re looking to convert the pressure from the first half into points in the second. England 8 – Kangaroos 12.

From the field: Nathan Cleary
Half-time: We’ve had an interesting finish to the first half, with plenty happening in the final 60 seconds resulting in England collecting two points from a penalty goal. Australia collected a kick on their own line and were pinned inside their own 20 when Harry Grant threw a forward pass. England rushed to pack the scrum before the siren sounded and had one play to score. They went with a Herbie Farnworth crash ball, who was easily held by the Kangaroos defenders. The ball, however, came loose and Australia where penalised for a strip. Isaah Yeo challenged, the Bunker quickly dismissed the appeal and Harry Smith kicked the penalty goal. England 8 – Kangaroos 12.
37th minute: Lindsay Collins has come within inches of a miraculous try, with the skinny English in-goals working against him. The Kangaroos ran the ball on the last before Kotoni Staggs kicked high. Mikey Lewis was unable to reel it in, Collins leapt through the air to grab the bouncing ball before gathering and grounding in one motion. The prop, however, grounded the ball on the dead-ball line and England receive a seven-tackle set. England 6 – Kangaroos 12.

33rd minute: England are on the board and they have their first try since the 75th minute of the opening Test of the series. Jez Litten slid straight through the Kangaroos defensive line before dummying his way past Reece Walsh. The hooker then put the ball on the toe, with George Williams winning the race to the ball in the in-goal. England 6 – Kangaroos 12.

Hudson Young Try
26th minute: Having absorbed plenty of pressure on their own line, Australia have repelled England before marching down the field and scoring their second of the day. Cameron Munster produced the grubber, with Hudson Young chasing through and producing a superb pick up to snatch the ball from Mikey Lewis’ grasp and score the try. England have largely controlled this contest but it’s the visitors who have made the most of their opportunities with ball in hand. England 0 – Kangaroos 12.

Collins bursts into space
21st minute: The hosts have come to play today and they’ve come agonisingly close to breaking through. A penalty put England on the attack before Kallum Watkins burst through the defensively line. The edge forward was dragged down but was in the thick of the action moments later when he chased a grubber. Mark Nawaqanitawase spilled the ball, with Watkins attempting to ground it but unable to get his hand on the ball. It is a line dropout, with England to have another attacking set of six. England 0 – Kangaroos 6.
13th minute: England have looked to play a more enterprising style with ball in hand throughout the early stages of today’s match, however their quest for victory has been dealt a blow. Fullback AJ Brimson has left the field with a shoulder injury and Mikey Lewis has been injected into the fray. England 0 – Kangaroos 6.

Josh Addo-Carr Try
6th minute: It’s been an end-to-end start to the match, with Harry Grant splitting the England defence in the opening set. The hosts scrambled to secure possession before earning a penalty to work their way down the field. Australia’s defence was up to the task and a Joe Burgess error put the visitors on the attack. It didn’t take long for the Kangaroos to capitalise, with Cameron Munster producing a looping pass for Josh Addo-Carr to finish in the corner. England 0 – Kangaroos 6

Burgess gets back to deny Walsh
Kick-off: The teams have paused for a pre-game ceremony to mark Remembrance Day, with Headingley falling silent to honour to occasion. The anthems have now been sung and the players are ready to go, with Australia chasing a clean sweep and England determined to finish the series on a high in a new-look red jersey. England 0 – Kangaroos 0.
Late Mail
England: Shaun Wane has confirmed his side for the third and final Test, with two changes to the backline from last week’s defeat in Liverpool. Joe Burgess comes into the side on the wing to replace Dom Young, who suffered a broken foot, while Harry Newman replaces Jake Wardle in the centres.
Kangaroos: Just the one change for the Kangaroos as they chase a clean sweep this afternoon. Captain Isaah Yeo is back from a concussion suffered in the first Test and will start at lock.
