UFC Fight Night video: Daniel Marcos puts Miles Johns to sleep with airtight choke submission

Daniel Marcos bounced back from his first loss in style at UFC Vegas 111.
In the second fight of Saturday’s UFC APEX card, the Peruvian bantamweight out-grappled veteran Miles Johns (15-5, 1 NC) and choked him out in Round 2.

After a competitive first round, the second was decided by Marcos and Johns’ ground-fighting skills, with Marcos eventually taking Johns’ back and securing a rear-naked choke. Johns fought off the urge to tap, but eventually passed out in the hold, with the referee officially stopping the fight 4:23 into the frame.
Marcos (17-1, 1 NC) returns to the win column after suffering his first pro loss to Montel Jackson this past May. In his post-fight speech, Marcos talked about how the setback affected him.
“I just wanted to say something that most people don’t know, but last time after the last fight I fell into deep darkness,” Marcos said via a Spanish translator. “Listen, it was my first loss, I just didn’t feel like myself. A lot of people turned their backs on me. But those people that love me, they stayed with me, and I told that to myself, ‘I can’t let this define me.’ That’s not going to define my entire life. I’m going to turn these things around and just keep getting better and I’ll tell every single one of you that’s in darkness at the moment, don’t let darkness turn off your light within you.”
Johns has now dropped three straight fights, continuing the first losing streak of his career.
