LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier benched against Alabama

With LSU’s offense struggling, fifth-year senior quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has been benched against Alabama.
Sophomore Michael Van Buren came in in relief. Van Buren transferred in from Mississippi State this offseason.
Nussmeier was 18 of 21 for 121 yards when he came out of the game, an average of 5.8 yards per pass attempt.
LSU is currently down 17-6 to Alabama.
It’s the second straight game Nussmeier has been sat down toward the end for Van Buren after he did so late in LSU’s blowout loss to Texas A&M.
