Charlie Rowbottom has won the 2025 Excellence Award, presented by Ganden Engineers & Project Managers.
Formerly known as the Coach’s Award, the Excellence Award recognises excellence in on-field performance. Each week a player is selected by the AFLW Coaching panel with the winner determined by an accumulation of votes at the conclusion of the season.
Rowbottom missed just one match through injury in 2025, on her way to another trademark season in the SUNS midfield.
In an official leadership position for the second consecutive season, she ranked number one in the AFLW for contested possessions (15.5 per game), fourth for in disposals (27.6 per game) and 10th in clearances (five per game).
Her finest performance came in her 50th AFLW match in Round 11, recording 36 disposals to go with 27 contested possessions and eight tackles.
The 22-year-old is also currently in contention to become the first player to be selected in five 22Under22 teams.
