Sydney Thunder name squad for WBBL|11 season opener

Sydney Thunder’s WBBL|11 campaign officially gets underway tomorrow night at Brisbane’s Allan Border Oval, with a 13-player squad announced to take on the Hobart Hurricanes.
Phoebe Litchfield returns to lead Thunder for a second straight season, fresh off an impressive ICC World Cup campaign.
She headlines a strong lineup featuring Georgia Voll, England’s Heather Knight, Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu, and South African speedster Shabnim Ismail.
If selected for tomorrow’s match, Thunder could welcome up to three new faces, with Hasrat Gill, Laura Harris and Alex Mavros all yet to debut in Thunder colours in the WBBL.
Fast bowler Mavros joins the squad as a Local Replacement Player for Hannah Darlington, who was ruled out of the season with a knee injury.
The 18-year-old Western Sydney talent, who plays Premier Cricket for Campbelltown-Camden, impressed during the Spring Challenge with six wickets across three matches for Thunder.
Sydney Thunder Coach Lisa Keightley shared her thoughts ahead of the season opener:
“Personally, our squad is as good as it gets in the competition,” said Keightley.
“Laura Harris and Hasrat Gill’s inclusion, getting those three star internationals back and Heather being here the whole time this time round will put us in positions to win matches.”
