Russian MP Proposes Mock Nuclear Strike on Pentagon, Eiffel Tower and Big Ben

A member of the Russian State Duma’s security committee urged the Defense Ministry to stage exercises simulating nuclear strikes on mock-ups of the Pentagon, Big Ben, and the Eiffel Tower to “that will cool and halt their disconcerting nuclear zeal for many years” according to The Moscow Times on November 6.
The lawmaker, Mikhail Sheremet of United Russia, argued that “it is long overdue to build a mock Pentagon, Big Ben, and the Eiffel Tower and conduct a retaliatory nuclear strike,” a comment he gave to News.ru and was cited by The Moscow Times, which summarized his claim that only such a demonstration would “cool” Western rhetoric.
The report added that on November 5, the Russian leader Vladimir Putin instructed defense and other agencies to present options to prepare for a possible resumption of nuclear testing after a 35-year pause, while Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said preparations for “full-scale nuclear tests” should “begin immediately.”

According to the same article, US President Donald Trump ordered the Pentagon to “immediately” resume nuclear testing and later accused Russia and China of conducting secret tests.
At the same time, RUssian Foreign Intelligence Service Director Sergey Naryshkin said US officials avoided a substantive response to Moscow’s request for clarification.
Earlier, it was reported that Russian leadership instructed defense and other agencies to prepare for possible renewed nuclear testing and cited recent strategic-weapons developments such as the Burevestnik missile.
