Gordon out, Joelinton starts again – Confirmed Newcastle team vs Brentford

The team sheets are in at the Gtech Stadium, where Newcastle United return to Premier League action against Keith Andrews’ Brentford.
Newcastle must respond to last Sunday’s dismal display at West Ham and start winning games on the road, but it won’t be easy against a Bees side that has beaten Liverpool, Aston Villa and Man Utd on home turf this season.
Here is how the two sides line up for today’s 2pm kick-off…
Newcastle XI: Pope – Trippier, Thiaw, Botman, Burn – Tonali, Guimaraes, Joelinton – Murphy, Woltemade, Barnes.
Subs: Ramsdale, Hall, Schar, Lascelles, Krafth, Elanga, Willock, Ramsey, Miley
Brentford XI: Kelleher – Kayode, Collins, van den Berg, Hickey – Yarmoliuk, Henderson – Ouattara, Damsgaard, Schade – Thiago
Eddie Howe has made one change from our midweek win over Athletic Bilbao, seeing Anthony Gordon drop out and Jacob Murphy return to the starting XI.
Gordon (hip) misses out entirely, meaning Harvey Barnes moves to the left, Joelinton keeps his place, Dan Burn remains at left-back and Kieran Trippier is at right-back after illness kept him out of last Sunday’s game at West Ham.
Lewis Hall is on the bench again, with the 21-year-old not yet match fit to start, and Will Osula misses out with an ankle issue.
As expected, Tino Livramento and Yoane Wissa remain absent as they close in on comebacks from knee issues.
Howay the lads!
