Colts sign wide receiver to 53-man roster; make 2 other moves

The Colts signed a wide receiver to the 53-man roster and made two other roster moves ahead of their Week 10 game.
The Indianapolis Colts announced that they signed wide receiver Laquon Treadwell from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.
This move comes with the Colts a bit shorthanded at wide receiver. After trading AD Mitchell, Indianapolis had just five receivers on the 53-man roster. Then, with Anthony Gould being ruled out for this week’s game, only four of those players were healthy.
After placing DeForest Buckner on injured reserve, the Colts did have an open roster spot, so no corresponding roster cut had to be made.
Treadwell has appeared in two games this season as a practice squad elevation. Between the Week 7 game against the LA Chargers and Week 9 against Pittsburgh, he’s played 25 special teams snaps, contributing on three different phases.
Treadwell does not have any offensive snaps this season. Those playing time splits on offense and special teams will likely look similar this week, with Treadwell as the fifth option on the depth chart at wide receiver.
For his career, Treadwell has caught 111 passes for 1,242 yards with five touchdowns.
In addition to signing Treadwell to the 53-man roster, the Colts also announced that they are elevating defensive end Durell Nchami and defensive tackle Tim Smith.
These moves come with the Colts dealing with injuries up front. Along with Buckner being out, Samson Ebukam and Tyquan Lewis were ruled out of this game as well.
This will be Nchami’s third and final practice squad elevation. He has played 31 defensive snaps the last two weeks, totaling one pressure. Nchami played only two snaps last week in Pittsburgh.
Tim Smith was a sixth-round pick by the Colts in this past April’s draft. This is his first practice squad elevation.
