Patriots rookie shows off speed with breakout touchdown

With Kayshon Boutte out, the Patriots were hoping rookie Kyle Williams would be ready to break out at Raymond James Stadium.
On the last play of the first quarter in Week 10 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he delivered.
On first and 10 on the Patriots’ 28, Drake Maye, faked the hand off as he dropped back to the 20 and then tossed the ball to Williams just behind the defense at about the 42.

Williams, New England’s third-round pick out of Washington State, caught the ball and took off, gobbling up the last 58 yards on his own.
Williams had just two catches for 20 yards before his 72-yard touchdown catch.
According Next Gen Stats:
“Kyle Williams reached a top speed of 21.78 mph on his 72-yard catch and run TD from Drake Maye, the fastest speed by a rookie ball carrier this season, and tied for the 7th-fastest by any ball carrier.”
According to the Patriots, Maye is the first quarterback “with a 50-yard pass in back-to-back games since Tom Brady in 2017.”
