Gautam Dutta, CEO – Revenue & Operations, PVR INOX said, “Haq has seen an encouraging response from audiences across regions. The film, a courtroom drama inspired by the 1985 Shah Bano case, has captured viewers’ attention with its engaging narrative and strong performances. Audiences have appreciated the depth of storytelling and the way the characters come to life on screen, creating an immersive cinema experience. At PVR INOX, we are pleased to see the continued enthusiasm for content-driven cinema. It had 100% growth on Saturday and expecting further growth of 40-45% on Sunday. We look forward to seeing how Haq continues to perform in the coming weeks and how viewers across regions respond to its compelling narrative.”
Devang Sampat, Managing Director Cinepolis India, “The jump from Friday to Saturday has been exceptional. This is the kind of leap only a handful of films manage. It’s a clear indication that audiences are connecting deeply with the subject.”
He added, “By Saturday evening, Haq was trending among the top choices for walk-ins, especially in urban centres. The film’s appeal seems to be cutting across demographics, drawing families, youth, and even senior audiences who have praised its emotional intensity and courtroom realism.”
With Sunday bookings showing continued strength, Haq is now poised to close its opening weekend on a high note. Exhibitors feel the film will enjoy an extended run, with word-of-mouth expected to drive consistent footfalls well into the coming week.
Bhuvnesh Mendiratta Managing Director – Miraj Cinemas, “We’re delighted with the audience response to Haq. The film has shown steady growth over the weekend, which is always a strong indicator of positive word of mouth. We’ve seen substantial growth from Friday to Saturday close to around 90% and from Saturday to Sunday it is expected to surpass 100%. It’s heartening to see viewers connecting so deeply with the story.”
The film’s appeal seems to be cutting across demographics, drawing families, youth, and even senior audiences who have praised its emotional intensity and courtroom realism. Several theatres in Mumbai, Pune, Lucknow, and Hyderabad reported notable increases in late-evening shows, with repeat viewers beginning to emerge which lately is a rare phenomenon for a serious social drama.
Trade experts are crediting the surge to Haq’s powerful word-of-mouth. Positive reviews, led by unanimous praise for Yami Gautam’s commanding performance and Emraan Hashmi’s impactful portrayal, has translated into audience curiosity.
Ashish Pandey, Head Programming, MovieMax Cinemas said, “Haq showed impressive growth on Saturday compared to Friday, reflecting strong word-of-mouth and audience appreciation. This augurs well for a sustained run at the box office. We’re seeing a growth of approx. 100% in Saturday compared to Friday and expect a further 30-35% growth on Sunday.”

Beyond its commercial trajectory, the film has sparked conversation around socially relevant cinema, which has been largely absent from mainstream lately.
Produced by Junglee Pictures, Baweja Studios, and Insomnia Films, helmed by Suparn S Varma and headlined by Yami Gautam Dhar and Emraan Hashmi, Haq is running in theatres.
