Ben Shelton Debuts at the Nitto ATP Finals

TURIN, Italy – Ben Shelton concludes the Pro Tennis season making his debut in the Nitto ATP Finals. Players compete throughout the season to earn points that help determine their rankings throughout the year and their potential qualification for the finals to conclude the season.

The winner of the Nitto ATP Finals wins 1,500 points to add to their total from the season as well as prize money. The tournament will be played in a round-robin format initially, with each participants playing three matches in the group they were assigned to. Their record in these matches will determine their advancement to the knockout semi-finals where they can continue on to the finals.

Shelton comes into the tournament ranked No. 6 by the ATP and was placed in the Bjorn Borg Group which also houses No. 1 Jannik Sinner, No. 3 Alexander Zverev and No. 9 Lorenzo Musetti, who beat out No. 8 Felix Auger-Allassime for the final spot.

The Jimmy Connors Group consists of No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz, No. 4 Taylor Fritz, No. 5 Novak Djokovic and No. 7 Alex de Minaur

Against these opponents, Shelton has a combined 2-14 record in his career. His two wins come from Musetti in the 2025 Australian Open and Sinner in the ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai tournament in 2023.

A pairing from the Bjorn Borg Group and a pairing from the Jimmy Connors group will play one match a day, with no matches starting before 9 a.m. EST (2 p.m. GMT) for the day matches and 3:30 p.m. EST (8:30 p.m. GMT) for the evening matches.

Shelton will face off against Zverev in the evening match Sunday, Nov. 9 and will not begin play before 3:30 p.m. EST (8:30 p.m. GMT). Shelton looks for his first win against Zverev after facing him four times in his career. Three of those four matches happened this year, with their last match up being in the quarterfinals of the ATP Masters 1000 Cincinnati.
