Kevin Durant Has a Good Reason For Using a Burner Account

It has been years since the world got to know about Kevin Durant having a burner account. However, the 2x NBA champion owned his secret life that was spent in volume on social media.

Unlike what many might think, Durnat hasn’t chosen to engage with the fans in the shadows because he is thin-skinned, but because he felt like it kept the love of the game alive in those fans.

On October 27, Kevin Durant appeared on “The Pivot” podcast and addressed Channing Crowder’s question about the reason behind using the burner account.

“I didn’t want nobody to know that it was me,” Durant said.

However, when pressed for the reason behind engaging with people who are “living in his mama’s basement,” Durant defended his position.

“When you look at the big picture, I really believe that these people that I might be sh*tting on sometimes, they enjoy these interactions. That might push them to buy some more NBA tickets or to order League Pass to subscribe to our game,” KD said.

“I feel like if we all were a little bit more authentic with these responses, all of our games would grow. And I’m starting to see more and more players [doing it] now… every time I see a guy come out and just say something like that I’m like, ‘you know I inspired that just a little.”

After initial backlash, Durant’s presence on social media has been taken by fans in a good light. Fans on both sides have appreciated Durant for engaging about basketball.
