Rams’ Matthew Stafford Joins Exclusive List After Major Career Milestone

At 37 years of age, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford continues to play at a very high level as he has throughout most of his 17-year NFL career. During the first half of Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, Stafford reached a career milestone that only the truly elite quarterbacks throughout NFL history have ever accomplished.
The Rams offense wasted no time in making its presence felt during Sunday’s game, scoring touchdowns on their first three offensive drives to jump out to a 21-0 lead.
Two of these touchdowns came courtesy of Stafford in the passing game, connecting with Puka Nacua in the first quarter and Davis Allen in the second quarter on a pair of touchdown passes.
The second of the scoring plays to Allen marked a significant moment in Stafford’s career, as it was his 400th career passing touchdown on his career.

Stafford has often been overlooked in the conversation of the truly elite quarterbacks in football. This milestone would certainly suggest that he entirely belongs in that conversation when you consider the other names who have accomplished this rare feat.
The former Super Bowl champion is now just the ninth quarterback to ever throw for 400 passing touchdowns, joining the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Dan Marino, Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Phillip Rivers, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, and Dan Marino on this list.

As great as this career accomplishment must feel for Stafford, a win on Sunday over the 49ers would likely be far more meaningful to him.
Thus far this season, the NFC West has been as tightly contested at the top as any division in football. The Rams, 49ers, and Seattle Seahawks all came into Week 10 with six wins on the year.
At worst, the Rams would be in a tie for the division lead with a win over the 49ers. So it will be interesting to see whether Los Angeles will be able to maintain the 21-7 lead they took into the locker room after the first half.
