Jetstar restarts Adelaide to Melbourne Avalon route with $29 flights

Jetstar has announced it will restart flights between Adelaide and Melbourne Avalon Airport from 26 March 2026, giving South Australian travellers another convenient and affordable gateway to Victoria.
The low-cost airline will operate up to seven weekly return flights, creating around 109,000 new low-fare seats a year and reconnecting South Australia with Victoria’s Surf Coast, Bellarine Peninsula and Geelong. The service, last seen before the pandemic, will be flown by Jetstar’s Airbus A320 aircraft.
To celebrate, Jetstar is offering one-way sale fares starting at just $29, available from 11:30am (ACDT) today. The limited-time sale matches the airline’s launch prices from more than two decades ago and is expected to sell quickly.
Jetstar CEO Stephanie Tully said the new route adds even more options for South Australians planning their next getaway.
“These new flights to Melbourne Avalon Airport provide South Australians with greater opportunities to take advantage of our low fares and are part of a significant increase in flights in and out of Adelaide this year,” she said. “It’s now easier and more affordable than ever to access Victoria’s popular Surf Coast, Bellarine Peninsula wine region, Geelong and Melbourne.”
The announcement comes amid major growth for Jetstar’s Adelaide operations, including more services to Bali and the introduction of larger A321LR aircraft. The airline remains the largest carrier between Adelaide and Bali, with one-way fares starting at $229* and Club Jetstar member fares from $219* for travel between January and February 2026.
Adelaide Airport Managing Director, Brenton Cox, welcomed the return of the Avalon connection.
“We are incredibly grateful for Jetstar’s investment in this increased connectivity between Victorian and South Australian communities—supporting strong each-way demand for tourism, events, family connections, and business travel,” he said.
The revival of the Avalon service adds to a string of recent aviation milestones for South Australia, strengthening Adelaide’s position as a growing travel hub. Earlier this month, China Eastern announced direct flights between Adelaide and Shanghai, marking the first-ever connection between South Australia and China’s financial capital. Virgin Australia has also boosted its Bali services, while Qatar Airways continues to expand its Adelaide operations, and Qantas kicked off their new Adelaide to Auckland direct tour, reaffirming the state’s growing international and domestic appeal.
With increased flight capacity, expanding routes, and record-low launch fares, South Australians now have more choice than ever when planning their next trip. Whether heading for Melbourne’s laneways, Geelong’s waterfront, or Victoria’s surf coast, Jetstar’s new Adelaide–Avalon route opens the door to affordable travel and stronger tourism connections across the region.
