‘Succession’ Star’s ‘The Missing’ Replacement Is an Instant Streaming Hit

Two Succession stars debuted with new shows this week, and both titles immediately jumped to the top of their respective streamers’ leader boards. While Matthew Macfadyen is receiving acclaim for his performance in Netflix’s Death by Lightning, in which he stars alongside Michael Shannon, his on-screen wife in Succession, Sarah Snook, delivered the instant hit All Her Fault on Peacock. The thriller follows a woman’s quest to find her kidnapped child, and has opened to mostly positive reviews. According to FlixPatrol, All Her Fault was the number one show on the domestic Peacock charts after its debut on November 6, holding on to its position on November 7 and November 8 as well.

The show also features Jake Lacy, Sophia Lillis, and Michael Peña in supporting roles, and currently holds a “certified fresh” 79% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. The critics’ consensus on the platform reads, “A twisty thriller that underscores the societal pressures placed on working mothers, All Her Fault is an addicting watch thanks largely to Sarah Snook and Dakota Fanning’s emotionally grounded performances.” In her review, Collider’s Therese Lacson praised the show’s premise, but noted that “the execution is a bit too concerned with shocking the audience rather than leaning into the nuance of the crime itself.”

‘All Her Fault’ Is Competing with Two Major New Shows for Eyeballs

All Her Fault presumably targets the same demographic that religiously watches true-crime dramas on streaming, particularly those shows that revolve around missing persons. The show’s premise offers a whiff of Hitchcock, combined with a hint of the acclaimed British series The Missing, with a pinch of The Killing thrown in for good measure. Unlike other streamers, Peacock’s original programming is often not as widely publicized; All Her Fault comes on the heels of fellow Peacock crime series Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy, which quickly faded from the streamer’s leader board after a boisterous debut around the same time as Monster: The Ed Gein Story. All Her Fault finds itself competing not only with Netflix’s Death by Lightning, but also Apple’s universally acclaimed new series Pluribus, from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan. You can watch the show at home, and stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
