Freeze watch issued for over 30 South Ga. counties

SOUTH GEORGIA (WALB) – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a freeze watch for several South Georgia counties.
The following South Georgia counties are under a freeze watch from Monday evening through Tuesday morning:
- Atkinson County
- Baker County
- Ben Hill County
- Berrien County
- Brooks County
- Calhoun County
- Clinch County
- Coffee County
- Colquitt County
- Cook County
- Crisp County
- Decatur County
- Dooly County
- Dougherty County
- Early Cunty
- Echols County
- Grady County
- Irwin County
- Lanier County
- Lee County
- Lowndes County
- Miller County
- Mitchell County
- Quitman County
- Randolph County
- Seminole County
- Stewart County
- Sumter County
- Terrell County
- Thomas County
- Tift County
- Turner County
- Webster County
- Wilcox County
- Worth County
WALB Meteorologist Justin Williams forecasted temperatures falling after a cold front passes through on Sunday night. “Near record cold” temperatures will follow on Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning.

According to NWS, frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, as well as possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
