Calgary open and closed on Remembrance Day 2025

With many ways to pay respects to Canadians who made the ultimate sacrifice on Remembrance Day, adjustments are being made to city services.
Calgary Transit services will operate on a Saturday level of service on Tuesday, and parking is free in on-street Park Plus zones. Weekend rates also apply to parkades and surface lots.
When it comes to partner lots, such as the Calgary Stampede, TELUS Spark, Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo, and Heritage Park, the city says regular rates will apply.
Veterans, meanwhile, will be able to ride transit for free — with a uniform and veteran ID cards being all that’s needed. Having a veteran’s plate will also allow access to free parking in all surface lots and parkades on Remembrance Day.
The Calgary Parking Contact Centre and Impound Lot will also be closed.
The Field of Crosses on Memorial Drive will see closures between 4 Street NE and 10 Street NW from 9 a.m. to noon. The city says crews working on the Sunnyside Floor Barrier are working with organizers to ensure Calgarians can “easily access the event site and find parking.”

Information about the flood barrier during the service can be found here.
Lastly, the Calgary Highlanders Remembrance Day parade around Central Memorial Park will lead to road closures from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Those closures include the following:
- 13 Avenue SW will be closed between 2 and 5 Street SW.
- 12 Avenue SW will be closed between 2 and 4 Street SW.
- 4 Street SW will be closed between 12 and 13 Avenue SW.
More information on ongoing road closures in the city can be found online.
City of Calgary facilities open and closed
With Remembrance Day ceremonies taking place around the city, several facilities will open to Calgarians for free.

- Canyon Meadows Aquatic and Fitness Centre (89 Canova Road SW)

- Ernie Starr Arena (4808 14 Avenue SE)
