Veterans Day is the annual holiday in November honoring men and women who have served in all U.S. wars, past and present.

The annual day of remembrance is a federal holiday and is often recognized with parades and memorial services. Many businesses also offer special deals for veterans to thank them for their service.

When is Veterans Day?

Veterans Day is on Nov. 11 (11/11) every year, regardless of what day of the week it falls. This year, it falls on a Tuesday.

Is mail delivered on Veterans Day?

According to the U.S. Postal Service, post offices will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11. Other delivery services, such as FedEx and UPS, will be operating.

Are banks open on Veterans Day?

No, federal banks and their branches will be closed. Bank ATMs and digital banking features will still be in service. 

Are schools open on Veterans Day?

Most schools in New York are closed on Veterans Day. Check your local school district’s website for school closures. 

Are restaurants and stores open on Veterans Day?

Most businesses and retailers remain open, but some may offer modified hours, so contact a local business to check its status.

Are federal offices open on Veterans Day?

According to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, federal offices will be closed. State, county and town level offices are also closed on Veterans Day.
