Winter weather alerts expand into east TN as the first flakes of the season move in

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -Extreme cold, brutal wind chills, and even snow are all on the table as an Arctic Blast works through East TN.
FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY MONDAY: You will need to keep the gloves, hat, and heavy winter coat for the rest of today. Temperatures will remain in the 30s the majority of the day, but due to the strong gusty winds, it’ll feel like the teens and twenties all day long.
Round 2 of snow will open up this afternoon and evening. Most of the snow that will accumulate will be in the mountains once again. But new data suggests a few heavier snow bands in the Cumberland Plateau and even in the valley which could give us additional flurries!
